We are only into Matchday 12 in Serie A and AC Milan are currently third on the log and this is a very promising starting for them, as they continue to shine under Vincenzo Montella.
Montella’s Man Management Skills?
Before the season started a lot of people believed that for Milan to do good in this campaign they had to bring in new players if they where to stand any chance in competing either for the Scudetto or for a Champions League spot. In the end Vincenzo decided to stick with these players and bring in Lapadula, Jose Sosa, Gustavo Gomez and Matias Fernandez. Montella’s man management skills are brilliant because under him Abate, De Sciglio and Gabriel Palleta have improved massively as they have been rock solid for Milan at the back. And speaking of Milan defence, at the back they have only conceded 12 goals and kept five clean sheets so far this season. Yes it may not be pretty but considering the situation it has helped Milan significantly. Another player who looks very lively for Milan is Suso, the Spaniard has been involved in six goals this season (two goals and four assists) and he provides creativity in the squad which has taken off some pressure of Jack Bonaventura.
The Rise of The Rossoneri Youth?
The most exciting aspect of Milan this season is the rise within the youth division, with goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma being impressive last season and taking that brilliant form into this season. Another youngster who has caught the eye and is making waves is Manuel Locatelli. Ricardo Montolivo’s injury seems to be a blessing in disguise perhaps as Locatelli was the man picked to replace him. Locatelli has proven to be a big asset for Milan as he already has two goals under his name this season. One was an equaliser against Sassuolo as Milan staged a fight back and won the game, while the other was against the mighty Juventus which would end a nine match winless run against the Old Lady. The fact that Locatelli scores goes is encouraging news for Milan as pressure is reduced from Bacca although Locatelli is a box to box midfielder. Donnarumma has also done his fair share for Milan as the 17 year old, he has managed to save his team on multiple occasions. Suso, Niang and Romagnoli are others whom have also shine for Milan this season.
Can AC Milan Go All The Way?
Well it’s too early to tell because, we have witnessed some brilliant performances and some inconsistent performances from the team as they lost 3-0 to Genoa and 1-0 to Udinese. With January just a month away it would be wise if Milan bring in two players who could boost the team massively moving forward. Cesc Fabregas and James Rodriguez would be the ideal signings that Milan would need to ensure European football next season and challenge for the Scudetto, because the current players they have might run out of form or get injured.
