With the tournament fast approaching, time is running out for people to place their pre-tournament bets. While bets can still be placed when the tournament is taking place, value can be lost and therefore it’s better to get them on early!
As with every football competition there is money to be won from the bookmakers. Here I suggest some of the best bets to place.
Thomas Müller to win Golden Boot (8/1 with Skybet)
Müller is many people’s tip to win the golden boot for the tournament and with the German having scored 31 goals in 70 appearances for the national team, this choice is more than justified. A strong showing in the group should see Germany and Müller score plenty of goals. If you’re not fully confident in Müller topping the charts the odds of 8/1 make him a decent bet for each way also.
Other players I see being up there are Robert Lewandowski (14/1) which is great value and Antoine Griezmann (9/1). If you fancy an outside bet Mario Gomez at 28/1 would be shrewd choice as the German is capable of finding the net if he plays.
Northern Ireland to Lose All Group Games (11/4 with Skybet)
This may sound harsh on the Northern Irish especially after their fantastic qualifying campaign. However, their group simply seems too strong. Everyone expects world champions Germany to turn them over and Poland are odds on favourites to beat them already (8/11). Their best chance of picking up a point is against Ukraine but they aren’t a bad team themselves. I just can’t see Northern Ireland picking up a point.
Paul Pogba to Win Best Player of the Tournament (10/1 with Skybet)
With the hopes of the home nation resting on his shoulders, Pogba will be hoping to be a standout player in this tournament. Proving to be a world class player already and he just keeps on getting better and better. With the support of thousands of French men, women and children behind him and his team I think Pogba will stand out massively. The odds of 10/1 are great value for this.
Germany or France to Win the Tournament Double Chance (11/10 with Skybet)
In my opinion, and I think most people will agree with this, the winner of the tournament will be one of these two teams. France with an exciting young squad and the backing of their home nation and Germany being the current world champions means that this two are almost everyone’s picks to lift the trophy. I definitely think the winner will be one of the two and while the odds aren’t massive, it’s a chance to double your money.
England to Win a Penalty Shoot-out (5/1 with Skybet)
Well why not ay? England are famously known for getting knocked out of international tournaments via the penalty shoot-out method but there’s always a first time for everything. With Rooney, Kane and Vardy in our team we have players who have taken, and more often than not scored, penalties on a regular basis for their club sides this season. Although, England to get eliminated by a penalty shoot-out may sound a little more tempting at the same price, 5/1.
Whatever best you decide to place remember; gamble responsibly.
